The Only King in Concert is presented by The Stage Only as the first fully sung-through Biblical Cantonese musical in concert. Inspired by 1 Samuel 8–31, it tells the story of King Saul and David, exploring themes of leadership, faith, pride and God's sovereignty.
Created by playwright Henry Fong and award-winning composer Peter Kam, the musical premiered in Hong Kong in 2005 and became a landmark work in Chinese Christian musical theatre. Following successful 20th Anniversary performances in London and Cambridge in January 2026, The Stage Only is proud to bring the production to Manchester and Birmingham in Autumn 2026.
