The Crescent Theatre and The Old Rep are committed to building and nurturing relationships with our community. Across each season, Crescent productions offer something to delight and inspire learners aged from 3 to 103, and we welcome education and community groups from a diverse range of settings.
This page provides some more information about what we can offer groups interested in visiting and engaging with us. Note that this page includes productions being staged at The Crescent Theatre in Brindleyplace, Birmingham.
We welcome visits from school and college parties – enthusiastic audiences of learners contribute to the vibrant atmosphere at the Crescent. We are committed to providing engaging and affordable theatrical experiences for young people.
Both our main stage and studio theatre spaces are fully accessible, with the layout of both spaces meaning there is no such thing as a ‘bad seat.’ Furthermore, the versatility of the seating space in the studio means that any experience at The Crescent is sure to be a unique one, offering learners a different perspective of the performance from each visit.
Our educational group ticket price is just £10.00 on all performances of Crescent Productions of plays until July 2024. This makes our productions significantly more affordable than any other theatre in Birmingham.

For those in further or higher education, we also offer an excellent value Student Ticket, available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for Crescent Theatre productions only. This costs just £7.50 and is only available in person from our Box Office, on production of a valid NUS card.
You can download our Crescent Theatre Guidance for School Parties prior to your visit.
We have also prepared a Guidance For Schools Risk Assessment document which you may find useful in preparation for your visit.
Each season we identify productions that are likely to particularly appeal to schools and colleges. We create education workbooks to support learners’ experience of seeing the show. Education workbooks are available via the link below.
We can also offer additional experiences to enhance your students’ experience of seeing a production. These can be used to enhance their knowledge of stagecraft and/or to deepen their engagement with a play text that is being studied. We understand that each educational establishment has different needs and therefore we endeavor to create bespoke packages, rather than offer generic education visits.
These can include:
- Backstage tours directly before an evening show or after a matinee
- The director or designer of a show talking to the group before or after the show
- Cast members meeting and greeting audiences after the show
- A post show discussion, similar to the ‘After Dark’ we already provide on Friday evenings for the general public
- In-house workshops for young people
- Visits by cast members into schools
To arrange any of these activities please contact the Box Office, by emailing boxoffice@oldrep.co.uk
**Discounted rates for schools and colleges only applicable to bookings of 10 or more tickets.
Community and Adult Education Groups
We welcome opportunities to engage with community and lifelong learning organisations. Many of our productions are ideal for visits by adult groups, both social and educational.
Our Friday evening performances are usually followed by an After Dark, which is a chance to discuss the production with the cast and creative team.
